Garcia, Washington Blast Wind-Aided 10-flat Times In 6A Boys 100

One of America's most glorious track and field meets returned after a year's absence and the talent on display at the Texas UIL Outdoor Championships did not disappoint. 

An historic boys 6A 100 meters final saw Jose Garcia of Harlingen (pictured at regionals) and Connor Washington of Conroe The Woodlands both run wind-aided times that were rounded up to 10.00 seconds. 

With a healthy +5.7 meter-per-second tailwind, Garcia clocked 9.998 and Washington went 9.999 in a tremendous final. 

Garcia came back to run a wind-legal and US#4 time of 20.59 seconds to win the 200 meters. 

Humble Summer Creek demonstrated depth on the way to the boys 6A team title with 54 points. Jalen Rivers won the high jump at 6-9, Barry Richards ran an all-conditions U.S.-best 13.31w to win the 110-meter hurdles and Kevin Grubbs won the discus with US#2 207-1. 

DeSoto's latest standout hurdler, Jalaysi'ya Smith won the girls 100 hurdles in 12.93w (+6.1) and also took second in the 300-meter hurdles in US#8 42.46. 

DeSoto also won the 4x200 and was top-three in the 4x100 and 4x400 to roll up big points on the way to the 6A girls title. 

Brynn Brown from Denton Guyer produced another historic double in the distance events, going US#3 9:58.77 to win the 3,200 meters and US#1 4:41.29 to take the 1,600. 

Jasmine Montgomery from San Antonio Reagan won the 100 meters in a windy 11.09 (4.6w) and the 200 in 22.94 (2.2w).

Ackerly Sands pulled out the 1A girls team title over Wildorado in the 4x400 relay, taking first in 4:12.05. Wildorado was third. That put Sands on top 48-45. Landry Morrow anchored Sands' winning teams in the 4x200 and 4x400 and got second-place points in the 300-meter hurdles. 

Anna Hudson's victories in the 100 and 200, plus relays, lifted Miami to third place with 42 points. 

Runner-up finishes from Darius Flemons (200) and Cord Piper (110 hurdles), plus big wins in the 4x100 (42.99) and 4x200 (1:29.41) carried Paducah to the 1A boys title. 

5A-2A Friday

Lancaster's third-place finish in the 4x400 relay brought the team into a first-place overall tie with Fort Bend Marshall and the two schools shared the 5A girls championship. 

Lancaster won the 4x200 (1:37.99) and FB Marshall won the 4x100 (46.34). 

Cesley Williams from Marshall won the 400 meters in US#10 54.07. Lancaster's Ashyiria Savage ran a state-leading and US#4 42.15 to win the 300-meter hurdles. 

Anastacia Gonzalez from Boerne Champion won the 1,600 meters in 4:49.11

Tumi Onaleye from Paetow jumped US#9 40-1.25 to win the triple jump.  

Kenondra Davis from Fort Worth Trimble Tech swept the sprints with impressive times of 11.27w and 23.11.  

Freshman Kailey Littlefield from Lucas Lovejoy won the 800 meters in US#7 2:08.04.

Fricso Liberty won the 5A boys title with 54.5 points and got a boost from jumper Evan Stewart, who won the long jump (US#5 24-6.50) and took second in the triple jump (48-9) behind Manvel's Jalen Walthall and his US#3 50-4.

Liberty ran US#5 3:15.39 to win the 4x400 relay. 

Kendrick Smallwood of Mesquite Poteet swept the hurdles with 

Macklynn Land won the 400 meters in 56.01 seconds and led the Panhandle girls to the 2A team championship with 74 points. She was part of the Panthers' winning 4x100 relay (48.42) and 4x400 relay (3:56.09).

Victoria Byrd of Joaquin swept the 2A girls sprints, taking the 100 in 12.02 and the 200 in 25.07w.

Trevor Haynes was the main cog in Shiner's team victory on the boys side. He was part of the winning 4x200 relay and also placed second in the 100 meters and long jump. Haynes and his teammates were also fourth in the 4x100 relay. 

Anthony Meacham of Woodsboro jumped a state-leading 17-0 to win the boys 2A pole vaut. 

4A-3A Thursday

Sprinters Jeremiah Fisher and Jai'Brian Bouye proved to be a devastating tandem for Waco La Vega, which relied on their speed to win the 4A boys state title with 82 points. 

Fisher won the 100 meters in 10.49w, Bouye won the 200 in a wind-legal 21.33 and they teamed up to power the Pirates to victory in the 4x100 (US#7 40.71). Bouye was also part of a victorious 4x200 (US#5 1:24.61) and the team also won the 4x400 in 3:16.79. Nikzavyer Rice got the final two points by taking fifth in the 400 (49.95).

Dayvon Williams of Cuero cleared US#8 6-10.50 to claim the long jump title.

Kennedale was no less dominant in the sprints on the girls' side. 

Brianna Brand took third in the 100 but anchored her team to wins in the 4x100 (46.94) and 4x200 (1:38.91). Brand also won the long jump with 18-8.75 and her teammates concluded the meet by winning the 4x400 (3:55.65).

In Class 3A, the Brock boys pulled out a victory in the 4x200 and placed third in the 4x100 for 32 of its 45 points points. Jake Lindberg picked up second place points in the 300-meter hurdles (39.18). 

Cutler Zamzow of Goliad won the 400 meters in 47.87 seconds. 

Yierra Flemmings led Cameron Yoe to the 3A girls title with her victory in the 400 meters (54.98). She also anchored the winning 4x400 relay (48.04), placed third in the long jump (17-10.50) and got fourth in the triple jump (37-3.75).

MaKenzie Hale of Huntington ran US#10 13.66 to win the 100-meter hurdles. 

Jayla Franklin of Newton swept the sprints, running 11.80 in the 100 and 24.24 in the 200.
