Texas State Meet Highlights

 

Results - Class 6A | Class 5A | Class 4A | Class 3A | Class 2A | Class 1A 

 

Saturday -

- For the second day in a row, Sam Worley and Reed Brown ran an exciting state final. This time it was Worley of Comal Canyon getting the better of Southlake Carroll's Brown in the 1,600 meters. Worley ran 4:04.59 and Brown ran 4:04.82. That was US#2 and #3. 

- Bailey Henderson from Comal Canyon won the 6A boys pole vault with a successful clearance at 17-3. He took three attempts at 17-7.

- Aaliyah Miller of McKinney Boyd ran 2:06.71 to break her own 6A meet record in the 800 meters. She came back to take third in the 400 meters with 54.62.

- Julia Heymach of Lamar defended her 6A title in the 1,600 meters by running 4:44.00 to beat a strong field that included runner-up (and 2013 champion) Madie Boreman of Rouse, who ran 4:46.55.

- Bryce Hoppel from Midlnd won the 6A boys 800 meters in 1:49.67.

-  Denzel Green from Texarkana Liberty-Eylau completed the 4A horizontal jumps double by taking the long jump with 23-10.75.

- The Dallas Carter girls ran 46.23 to set a 4A meet record in the 4x100 relay.

- Sophomore Jake Merrell from Turkey Valley broke the 1A meet record in the 800 meters with 1:55.11. He came back later and broke another meet record by running 4:22.60 to win the 1,600 meters.

- The DeSoto girls ran 45.13 seconds to win the 6A 4x100 relay title. The Desoto boys followed suit and ran 40.34 seconds to win the 6A boys final.

- Alexis Duncan of DeSoto won the 6A 100 hurdles in a meet record time of 13.22 seconds. She later added a title in the 300 hurdles in 41.88.

- Bryce Douglas of Allen won a close race with Josh McGowen of McAllen, 13.79 to 13.82, in the 6A 110 hurdles. McGowen came back later to win the 300 hurdles in 36.42.

- Joe Williams of Bremond ran 10.58 seconds to win the 2A 100 meters. He also won the 200 meters in 21.39.

- Sophomore Sha'Carri Richardson from Dallas Carter ran a swift 11.58 to win the 4A girls 100 meters.

- Kira White of DeSoto won the 6A girls 100 final in 11.63 seconds.

- Jace Comick of Humble Atascocita sped to the the 6A boys 100 meters crown in 10.47 seconds.

- In the 6A 4x200 relays, DeSoto's girls won the title with 1:36.29. On the boys side, it was Manvel breaking the tape first in 1:24.48.

- Mariah Kuykendoll of Judson won the 6A girls 400 meters in 54.05 seconds.

- Jamarkus Birks from North Crowley won the 6A boys 400 meters in 47.09 seconds.

- Raegan Padgett of Sour Lake Hardin-Jefferson won the 4A girls 200 meters in a meet record time of US#4 23.41 seconds.

- In the 6A girls 200, Imani Nave of Klein upset Danyel White of Cedar Hill. Nave went 23.66 to White's 23.77.

- Kary Vincent Jr. of Port Arthur Memorial won the 6A boys 200 meters in 21.09 as all nine finalists broke 22 secconds.

- Arlington Bowie won the 6A boys 4x400 relay in 3:14.03 but DeSoto grabbed second in 3:14.22 and scored 16 big points to overtake Manvel for the state title.

- Class 4A team champions - Sour Lake Hardin-Jefferson girls with 48 points; Stafford boys with 50 points.

- Class 6A team champions - DeSoto girls with 79 points; DeSoto boys with 54 points.  

 

Friday - 

- In the Class 5A boys 4x100 relay, Fort Bend Marshall -- Cederian Lynch, Shamon Ehiemua, Jarmaiz Whitaker and John Isom -- moved to No. 8 all-time with 40.13 seconds. It's the fastest time in the nation in four years. Four teams broke 41 seconds. Lancaster was second in 40.37. Fort Bend Marshall came back later and won the 4x200 relay in 1:24.19. Ehiemua ran US#4 20.62 to win the 200 meters to help wrap up the boys team title.

- Jayson Baldridge from Richmond George Ranch won the 5A 300 hurdles in a nation-leading time of 36.32 seconds. This event missed Pan Am Juniors gold medalist Norman Grimes, who injured a hamstring three weeks ago.

- The Lancaster boys ran US#1 3:12.28 to win the 5A 4x400 relay crown.

- Reed Brown of Southlake Carroll, a junior, ran 8:50.43 and edged out Sam Worley of Comal Canyon (8:51.44) in a terrific Class 6A 3,200 meters. Together they broke the 29-year-old Texas state meet record.

- Paige Hofstad of New Braunfels returned to form and turned in an emotional victory in the 6A girls 3,200 meters. She ran 10:23.51 to get past Ashton Endsley and Julia Heymach.

- Jasmine Moore from Lake Ridge, a freshman, built upon her record breaking triple jump and went 19-10 to win the 5A long jump. Another freshman, Whitney Williams of Frisco, was second with 19-4.50.

- Adrian Piperi from The Woodlands launched the shot 71 feet to win the 6A title.

- Tonea Marshall from Sequin broke the Class 5A meet record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.30 seconds. She also helped her team win the 4x200 relay with US#9 1:36.53.

- Junior Champion Allison of Richmond George Ranch won the 5A 400 meters in 46.40 seconds, moving to US#7.

- Freshman Whitney Williams of Frisco won the 5A 400 meters in 53.68 seconds for US#10.

- Jania Martin of McKinney North, a sophomore, ran US#7 23.60 to win the 5A 200 meters.

- Fabian McCall of Huntsville ran 13.92 seconds to win the 5A boys 110-meter hurdles.

- Junior Javelin Guidry of Cedar Park won the 5A boys 100 meters in 10.41 seconds.

- Junior Alyssa Gridiron of Frisco Heritage won the 5A girls 100 meters in 11.74 seconds. 

- Alexandria Madlock from Bangs won the 3A triple jump with 40-4.25.

- Caira Pettway from Sunnyvale won the 3A girls 100 meters in 11.94 seconds. She also won the long jump title with 18-11.75.

- Jaquayln Crawford of Rockdale won the 3A boys 100 meters in 10.53 seconds.

- Destiny Fairley of Jarrell won the 3A girls 400 meters in 55.85 seconds.

- Baylee Chappell from Paris North Lamar won the 4A girls high jump with a make a 5-8.

- Kene Nwangwu of Frisco Heritage won the 5A boys high jump with 6-10 and took three attempts at 7 feet.

- Freshman Annika Wilson from College Station jumped 5-8 to win the 5A girls high jump.

- Ericka Hernandez from Gonzales won the 4A girls shot put with a mark of 46-3.50.

- Ellyana Long from The Woodlands won the 6A girls high jump with a clearance at 5-9.

- Dexter Neboh from Permian won the 6A boys triple jump with 49-5.25.

- Tee Owens from Mexia went 19-3.50 to win the 4A girls long jump.

- Denzel Green from Texarkana Liberty-Eylau won the 4A boys triple jump with 49-9.

- The McKinney North girls won the 5A 4x100 relay with a time of 45.64 seconds -- good for US#4. They also won the 4x400 title in 3:45.05 to cap off the team championship.

- Freshman Alyssa Duhart of Frisco Heritage won the 5A girls 800 meters in 2:13.85.

- Sophomore Gus Hancock from Bryan won the 5A boys 800 meters with 1:52.84.

- Janai Garrett from Lancaster ran 41.87 to win the 5A girls 300 hurdles -- US#10.

-  Jeffrey Butts of Whitesboro won the 3A 1,600 meters title with 4:15.82.

- Abby Gray of Alamo Heights won the 5A 1,600 meters in 4:54.66.

- Carter Blunt from Frisco Independence completed the 5A distance double by going 4:10.89 in the 1,600 meters.

- The top three finishers in the boys wheelchair shot put broke the meet record, topped by Tyler Buysse from Gunter going 22-1.75. He also smashed the meet record in the 100 meters with 16.05 seconds as well as the 400 with 57.60 seconds.

- Class 3A team champions -- Sunnyvale girls 42 points; Rockdale boys 54 points.

- Class 5A team champions -- McKinney North girls 74 points, Fort Bend Marshall boys 52 points.

 

Thursday –

 

- Jasmine Moore from Lake Ridge broke the all-time freshman class triple jump record to win the 5A contest with 42-1.75 (1.8).

- Carter Blunt from Frisco Independence won the 5A 3,200 meters in 8:58.86 to break his own meet record.

- Spencer Nigh of Magnolia won the 5A boys shot put with 62-7.50. On Friday he came back and won the discus with 177-6.

- Abby Gray of San Antonio Alamo Heights won the 5A girls 3,200 meters in 10:36.45.

- Jalen Seals from Ft. Worth Boswell jumped 24-11.50 in the prelims and won the 5A long jump.

- Kendahl Shue from Boerne Champion won the 5A girls pole vault with a clearance at 12-6.

- Rickey Fantroy from McKinney won the 5A boys triple jump with 48-6.50.

- Peyton Weissmann from Grapevine won the 5A boys pole vault with a make a 16-6.

- Tyler Russell from Malakoff jumped 6-10 to win the 3A boys high jump.
